‘Up to’ is not an automatic entitlement. The total grant cannot exceed the cost of the eligible work.
A pre-2007 home with no passing BER heat-loss indicator normally needs the technical assessment before applying.

Working assumptions
- The February 2026 bundle is modelled as up to €6,500 for the heat-pump system, up to €2,000 for required central-heating work and €4,000 Renewable Heat Bonus.
- Air-to-air is modelled at the official €7,500 maximum and does not provide domestic hot water.
- Apartment maxima are lower for water-based systems.
Where to be careful
- The contractor’s design and SEAI assessment determine which bundle components apply.
- This checker is not a grant approval or a technical assessment.
- The Central Heating Grant is capped separately by dwelling type: up to €2,000 for a house and up to €1,000 for an apartment, and it is not available on air-to-air systems.
- Whether a previously grant-aided heat pump can be replaced under the scheme is asked directly, because SEAI does not grant-aid the same unit twice.

The same question, answered end to end
A pre-2021 house currently on oil, no valid heat-loss indicator, pricing an air-to-water heat pump with a radiator or underfloor upgrade.

How it is worked out
An air-to-water heat pump in a house attracts the €6,500 unit grant.
Replacing oil rather than an existing heat pump adds the €4,000 Renewable Heat Bonus.
The radiator or underfloor upgrade adds up to €2,000, subject to the scheme maximum across the bundle.
Those three components total €12,500.
Because the heat-loss indicator is unknown on a pre-2007 home, the result flags that a €200 technical assessment is likely to be needed first.

Questions about this tool
Is every eligible heat pump grant worth €12,500?
No. €12,500 is the maximum bundle for qualifying houses. Central-heating work and the Renewable Heat Bonus have separate conditions, and apartments have lower maxima.
When is a technical assessment required?
SEAI says pre-2007 homes generally need one unless a valid BER shows a heat-loss indicator of 2.3 W/(K·m²) or lower.
