Before you begin

What this tool needs

  • Use the heat-loss indicator printed on a valid BER where available.

  • Tick the radiator or underfloor question only when the installer’s design actually includes that work.

What your result means

‘Up to’ is not an automatic entitlement. The total grant cannot exceed the cost of the eligible work.

A pre-2007 home with no passing BER heat-loss indicator normally needs the technical assessment before applying.

Boundaries

Assumptions and limitations

Working assumptions

  • The February 2026 bundle is modelled as up to €6,500 for the heat-pump system, up to €2,000 for required central-heating work and €4,000 Renewable Heat Bonus.
  • Air-to-air is modelled at the official €7,500 maximum and does not provide domestic hot water.
  • Apartment maxima are lower for water-based systems.

Where to be careful

  • The contractor’s design and SEAI assessment determine which bundle components apply.
  • This checker is not a grant approval or a technical assessment.

Common questions

Questions about this tool

Is every eligible heat pump grant worth €12,500?

No. €12,500 is the maximum bundle for qualifying houses. Central-heating work and the Renewable Heat Bonus have separate conditions, and apartments have lower maxima.

When is a technical assessment required?

SEAI says pre-2007 homes generally need one unless a valid BER shows a heat-loss indicator of 2.3 W/(K·m²) or lower.
